4 Week Challenge

The Four Week Challenge is a test drive of Scouting. It’s a try-before-you-buy with no commitment to see if volunteering is right for you.

We want it to be easy – a gradual introduction over four weeks that shows you how much you can get out of volunteering with us – new skills, new friendships, new experiences, and a sense of making a difference to the lives of young people in our community.

Week 1: Come and see what we do We’ll introduce you to everyone, show you what we get up to and how we do it. We’ll give you something to do.

Week 2: Help out We’d love to know you a little better, what skills and interests do you have? Maybe you can run an activity or a game? You could perhaps use your unique skills to prepare something for the young people to do next week that links to the programme?

Week 3: Get a little more involved By now, you’ll be feeling like part of the team. This might be the right tme to plan and run an activity. We’ll be gentle, especially if this is the first time you’ve done something like this.

Week 4: Decide if volunteering at Scouts if for you By this week, you will know if Scouting is for you or not. At the end of the session, we’d love to find out how you’ve found it.

If you say yes…

Brilliant news! This is just the beginning of your time as a scout volunteer. We’ll link you up with a mentor who’ll provide support.  We will then start the appointments process, issue you with a welcome pack and order you a uniform!
